Winter Wonderland

While I was walking from Mount Pleasant back up to Townhill Campus through the snow blizzard, I came across this caption and thought it was amazing. A bench that was originally looking down on the town was now covered by snow and looking out at nothing. Capturing the bench slightly right to the centre of the shot of the photo represents slight disequilibrium within the situation of the photo.

The journey so far...

The time I have spent at university so far have been brilliant, exciting and the best decision I ever made. I have met so many people, made new friends and have became apart of a team.
When I first arrived at the Halls of Residence I was excited but equally enough nervous to see what challenges I would come across on my journey at Uni. So stepping into my new room for the very first time was thrilling, what I was mostly surprised about is that the shower was IN my room, But what made my room most special was that it was fortunate to have a balcony, and it wasn't and normal balcony, it was the best on the whole campus, as it has this amazing view of mumbles.

So then the next step after settling into my room and making sure I was happy with it, it was time to meet my neighbours however as I had moved in a couple of day earlier than many, There wasn't that many in my halls to greet at the time. But as a couple days past there were drip and drabs of new comers just like me moving in and this was perfect opportunity to make friends and see who I would be friends with while I spent my time at uni.
My floor (D floor) in freshers were known to be the best, we were know at the time the party floor.
This was our first night out as a floor, school disco, and I must admit still to this day that night was a really good night for us as a floor and since then we all have become great friends.
Through uni have made friends of my course, and with joining the University Netball Team this is my team now and with our new netball kit.

As time has progressed, I have met even more people and friends from different halls on Townhill Campus which I have really bonded with and we have all became of best of friends and have decided to share our 2nd year house together, so the uni life is still to be continued....

Amser Adolygu!

To translate Revision Time, Yep it's that time of the year again, and where ever there is revision there is exams not too farm behind following. So a week before the exams and we have been fortunate enough to have a reading week, this is a week off from lectures and tutorials, 'Yiipee!' you may think, however this time is spent by head down and in books re-reading over what you have learnt to make sure it has stuck so you can then transfer that information into your own understanding in an exam. Withing the exam period I have two exams to look forward to. These being my first exams within university I haven't got a clue what to expect, therefore having made sure I have covered everything I should have some hope of passing them. Fingers Crossed!!
The best advantage of learning about different learning styles it that it helps towards my revision and I can see what suits me best and what seems to work best for me in the outcomes to come. Once my exams are over I'm off to Cardiff to watch the rugby as a treat for working so hard.

The Test of the Wordle App

Wordle is a great app that anyone can use to create a 'word cloud' in an instant from the text that they have provided. It's easy to use and looks good on a presentation or just for their personal use. The words that appear more frequent in the text that you selected, the bigger it will be and this is a creative way of getting your points accross to an audience. Once you have submitted your chosen text you can then change, the font, the colour and the layout to suit you prefered style. Then when your finished you can print it out, send it to friends, or save it on their Open to Public Gallery.
The use of Wordle towards education can be used in a number of ways. It can be used by students to help them with revision, they can simply paste a useful webpage or essay and then Wordle will highlight the key words for them. It is brilliant for visual learners as it gives colour and meaning to the words as they stand out. Teachers can use it to create a creative word display for the classroom for an particular topic or for a presentation to make it colourful and interesting for learners.

How it works is simple when you come to the wordle page you click on Create and it then comes up with this:

Then after you press 'Submit' you will find yourself with your very own Wordle creation.

"Snow is Falling...."

"...all around us" quite literally the snow fall in Swansea has came out from nowhere, and I can confidently say loads of us are loving it! Woke up this morning nice and early started to get ready for uni, not even thought to look out of my window before setting off, I step out of my room and everyone on my floor were bouncing up and down, IT'S SNOWING!! so I quickly ran backing to my room opened the window and I just couldn't believe my eyes, the whole of Swansea was covered in a thick layer of snow.
So as I was already out of bed and uni was closed for the day, there was nothing else to do than play in the snow, SNOW DAY!!

So as I live on campus with loads of immature lads the natural instinct for them to do when it snows, is to build the biggest willy ever!
However the snow didn't last that long neither did the sculpture.

Pros and Cons of Social Networking

Brief History
The first electronic digital computers were developed between 1940-1945 and were mostly used by scientists for military applications. They were programmed to carry out a finite set of logical and arithmetic operations. When the invention of computers came into light, no-one thought they would use it to communicate with people from half way around the world or even a friend from just down the road. But then not long after in the 1960's the internet was born and this allowed many people to have easy access to information and to connect to billions of other people worldwide, this was the start of a different kind of life style for billions of people worldwide by new ways of communicating and new technologies.
Now Today
Computers or Laptops as many of us students have access to, are used more than ever in everyday activity. The internet has become an necessity and like many of us, I admit that I wouldn't be able to live without it. I would say the Social Networking is the most successful creation to come out of the use of the internet, as it has created this whole new way to allows different kinds of people to connect or get their argument across in a variety of ways. Websites such as Facebook lets loads of kinds of people get communicate with friends, family and colleagues from different areas of the world. There are many positive and negative things towards social networking. The positive is that the internet it free and fast so, it makes communicating more accessible, easy to share information and with the use of Twitter people can follow their favourite celebrities and see what they are doing.
However the negative aspect of social networking on people is it can become very addictive, it can take over people's lives and make their attention spams a lot shorter if too much time is spent on them. This then can impact on how children do in school or people in a work place.

Here's is a brain storm that gives you a brief outline on the different soical networks that are out there and how they are used.

Welly heaven!!

Over the Christmas holidays I attended a Young Farmers event called 'Wigs and Wellies'. The event is held every year in my local town with a different crazy themes. this year we had the pleasure of wearing wigs and wellies as our outfit. The route we religiously take to get to the night club consists of 5 pubs which are not that close together. so as every girl knows from wearing 'The' killer heel, when/if they manage to get to the nightclub, which they pay to get in to dance but can't actually manage to dance, know that wearing a pair of wellies on a night out is the most heavily thing ever! You can actually move, dance, jump and even run away from the god awful cheesy chat up lines. It was great being at home for Christmas, get to hang out with loads of old faces and it's a time of coming together as a community within my area.

Educational Blog

Keeping up to date with the news that's going on in the world around me is very important and also knowing what's going on within education today is even more important towards me being a teacher I'm currently following four different blogs that are relevant to education, the best blog that I believe is the Telegraph News Blog on education.

I like this blog because it updates me nearly everyday on what is going on with the education system within the UK or from the other side of the world. It has discussions on human rights to education and lets other bloggers to leave comments and share their view on what that blog was said. As the blog is on the Telegraph news websites you can trust that the information in the blogs are reliable, and if they are not you can tell by the arguments people have left.
It it also student friendly as it gives tips on how to manage money and tips on how to live a great student life, the lay out is also great all in one column new feeds at the top and  with links and pictures to make its easy to read.
